- CLUB STATEMENT REGARDING UNDER 14'S |
A
10-man Ivybridge Under 14's side, depleted by the bout of flu
that is doing the rounds at the moment, suffered another heavy
defeat this morning, going down 18-0 to Morley Rangers. Following
the game, Club Secretary, Paul Cocks, wanted to make a statement
regarding the team's future.
"To start, lets be clear that the Under 14's will
not be folding, nor will they give up without a fight.
I was at the Under 14's game this morning and witnessed for myself
the great sense of team spirit that the lads have. They have had
a very difficult season and it's far from over. Each and every
week the team will face a huge challenge in the top league, playing
teams of a very high calibre. That said, we will continue to field
a team every week and the boys that don the Ivybridge shirt will
work their socks off, as they have done every game so far this
season, and will continue to enjoy their football.
The situation is very unfortunate and is one which leaves a very
bitter taste in the mouth. The Club had to ask former Manager,
Kevin Light, to leave at the end of last season and a Parents
meeting was called to discuss the future of the team. The support
was excellent, with only 2 players close to Kevin leaving, the
rest wishing to stay and committing to stay loyal to Ivybridge
Town. Everyone looked forward the season ahead. However, within
a matter of weeks we sadly realised that the committments of many
were hollow and the words of loyalty futile. An exodus of players
was to follow.
It has been a difficult few months but we now have 12 lads who
want to play for Ivybridge Town, a handful of which are from last
year's Under 13's and have remained loyal to the cause. Despite
the results so far, and the heavy defeats which the team can expect
in the coming months, the boys are enjoying their football. The
team spirit is excellent, something which every opposing team
Manager has commented on. They boys leave the pitch smiling at
the end of every game, which is a great testiment to them. They
should be very proud.
On behalf of the Club, I would like to thank the players and parents
of the Under 14's for their continued support, especially those
that have remained loyal. All too often loyalty to a Club wanes
in Adult football and it is deeply saddening to see this creeping
into Junior football as children, more often than not driven by
their parents desires, move to clubs were winning is everything.
The biggest vote of thanks must go to Paul Hayes. Had it not been
for Paul and his unrelenting enthusiasm, the team may not be in
existence today. We cannot thank Paul enough for the committment
that he has shown to the team and continue to be amazed by his
positive attitude.
We would also like to extend our thanks to Chris and Graham for
their help with the team.
We will continue to battle on through this season and will re-group
and strengthen in the close season in preparation for a more manageable
season in the middle league. This team was the first Junior team
ever set-up at Ivybridge Town and we are not going to give that
up easily." |

- IVYBRIDGE ACHIEVE THE FA CHARTER STANDARD DEVELOPMENT CLUB STATUS |
We
have just had confirmation that Ivybridge Town Junior Football
Club has achieved the Charter Standard Development Club
Award from the Football Association, and joins a list
of just 11 other Clubs across the whole of Devon to achieve this
award. This is a fantastic achievement for everyone involved with
the Junior section of the Club, especially since the Club has
only been going for just over 2 years. This is the best evidence
that we are doing all of the right things and setting very high
standards througout, both on and off the pitch.
The Charter Standard Scheme is the best practice guide that sets
standards of coaching, administration and child protection for
clubs working with young people. It is the Football Association's
benchmark for quality.
In achieving this award, Ivybridge Town Junior Football Club has
clearly demonstrated it's determination to set high standards
and has created a Club which offers Children the opportunity to
play and learn the game in a safe and structured environment.
This is just one of a number of steps that has been taken by the
Club during it's short existence to get the name of Ivybridge
Town on the map and to build a strong and positive reputation
for itself.
Congratulations to everyone involved with Ivybridge Town JFC and
thank you for your continued support. |

- BARCLAYS BANK SUPPORT IVYBRIDGE TOWN JUNIORS |
We
are delighted to announce that Barclays Bank have generously donated
£500 towards the cost of the trophies at this years Junior
End of Season presentation evening. Barclays Bank are a terrific
supporter of the game, providing support at the highest standard
in the Premiership and at the grass roots level of the sport.
This donation will prove to be a massive financial help to Ivybridge
Town Football Club and will allow us provide every player with
a decent trophy in recognition of their achievements throughout
the season.
The donation would not have been granted without the help of Mark
Hunter. Ivybridge Club Secretary, Paul Cocks, wanted to thank
Mark on behalf of everyone at the Club. "It was Mark's
suggestion to approach Barclays for a donation and he helped it
come to fruition, assisting at every step of the long winded process.
It's a great boost for the Club to receive this donation and it
will be put to good use. On behalf of everyone involved with Ivybridge
Juniors, I would like to thank both Mark and Barclays for their
help and support." |

- IVYBRIDGE DAY OUT - GOLF AND BASKETBALL |
Following
on from the very successful day out to Plymouth Argyle v Derby
County, Nigel has arranged a similar trip but instead of football
this time it will be to watch the basketball, Plymouth Raiders
v Guildford on Saturday 13th January.
This is going to be a very
popular game as both teams are doing extremely well this season.
For anyone that has not been to see basketball at the pavilions
I can assure them it is fast, furious, noisy, exciting and a great
day out. The price will be no more than £17.50 and that
will include the following;
Transport, Golf Lesson at
Plymouth Driving Range (including equipment), a light meal and
entry into Plymouth Raiders.
Numbers will be limited and I would imagine it will be very popular
with those that went last time but to be fair to everyone I think
it should be on a first come basis. The final timings will be
confirmed nearer the time but will look something like:
1430hrs - Depart Erme Valley
1500hrs – Arrive at
Plymouth Driving Range
1600hrs – Depart Plymouth
Driving Range
1630hrs – Light Meal
1730hrs – Depart for
Plymouth Pavilions (Basketball)
1930hrs - Basketball tip
off
2115hrs – Depart Plymouth
Pavilions
2145hrs - Arrive Erme Valley
Adults can catered for.

- PLYMOUTH ARGYLE'S OLYMPIC-STYLE DJM PARADE |
On
Sunday 15th October, Plymouth Argyle are running a special promotion
for their game against Derby County whereby there will be an Olympic-style
parade of DJM teams to be staged before kick-off. Plymouth Argyle
are hoping that this will attract the attention of Sky TV cameras.
Argyle have asked for one representative from each of the DJM
Clubs to take part in the parade. To ensure that the Ivybridge
Town Junior representative is picked in the fairest possible way,
all of the players names will go into a hat and one will be picked
out at random.

- IVYBRIDGE JUNIORS RECIEVE LIFE SAVING SPONSORSHIP |
Ivybridge
Town Juniors have just received what could be 'life saving' sponsorship
from a local business, Eldra Dance. Eldra have kindly sponsored
the Junior first aid kits at the Club and have helped us to make
sure that the coach of each Junior team has all of the necessary
equipment that they would need to treat an injured player or administer
emergency first aid prior to the professionals arriving.
Ivybridge Town Football Club would like to thank Eldra Dance for
this donation. |

At
the DJM Annual General Meeting, all member clubs were asked for
their opinions on whether they though the League's Junior fixtures
should be published for the entire season as opposed to on a monthly
basis as is the case now. Their was a very positive response to
this from the floor, with the vast majority of clubs seeing this
as a positive step. At this months League Management meeting,
confirmation was given by the League that the 2006/07 season's
