Ivybridge Town Football Club was founded
in 1925 and has been a member of the Plymouth and District League
since 1926/27. Throughout that time the club has run various teams
in Senior (men's) football.
The club has won many honours
during that time, including the Senior Victory Cup and League,
and have been runners up of both the Premier and Division 1
In 1992/93 the club made the
decision to move into the newly formed Devon County League,
originally called the "Westward Developments Devon league",
now known as the Axworthys' Office Supplies Devon League. This
proved a formidable task for the club because we were facing
sides who were run on a semi-professional basis. For the first
9 years in the Devon League, Ivybridge Town struggled and were
very lucky to avoid relegation on a few occasions. However,
in the last 4 year, the Club has improved considerably and has
fast gained a reputation for being one of the best sides in
the League. With a rejuvenated committee, a new sense of determination
and of course a strengthened squad of players, Ivybridge Town
have challenged for honours.
Since 2001, Ivybridge Town have won the Throgmorton League Cup
on two occasions, have been runners-up in the League on two
occasions, and have one both the Charity Shield and the most
prestigious Cup competition in Devon, the Premier Cup. As we
go from strength to strength, we hope to go one step further
in the League this season and be crowned Champions.
Outside of the Devon League, Ivybridge Town won the Plymouth
& District Combination League Premier Division in 2003/04.
In addition to the Senior setup at Ivybridge Town, we also have
a Junior section of the Club. Ivybridge
Town Juniors was founded on 4th June 2004 and we currently
have 5 youth teams ranging from Under 9 Mini-Soccer through
to an Under 13's Girls Team.
